Position Overview:

BLOOM is looking for an experienced, creative, and highly organized Lead Floral Designer to join our team in Charlevoix, Michigan. This is a hands-on creative role for a designer who is equally comfortable creating beautiful work, and keeping a large event moving calmly and efficiently. BLOOM is known for floral design that feels lush, artful, seasonal, and effortless with an emphasis on beautiful movement, unexpected details, and a thoughtful balance of locally grown and globally sourced flowers. We’re looking for someone who has strong design instincts, loves working with flowers, and can bring both creativity and confidence to the studio and event environment.

 

What You’ll Do

Floral Design & Production

• Design and produce florals for weddings, events, installations, and everyday orders

• Translate design concepts, recipes, mood boards, and event plans into beautiful finished work

• Create everything from bouquets and personal flowers to large-scale centerpieces, installations, arches, and ceremony designs

• Process, condition, and care for flowers with a high level of attention to quality

• Maintain BLOOM’s standards for mechanics, construction, proportion, and longevity

 

Event Leadership

• Lead on-site floral installations and breakdowns

• Coordinate floral teams during event setup as needed

• Work professionally and collaboratively with planners, venues, rental companies, photographers, and other event partners on event days

• Troubleshoot calmly and creatively when the inevitable event-day surprises arise

• Ensure the finished installation reflects the approved design and BLOOM’s standards

 

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is

• An experienced floral designer with a strong portfolio

• Highly creative with an excellent eye for color, texture, scale, and composition

• Comfortable designing in a lush, organic, garden-inspired style

• Calm and solutions-oriented under pressure

• A clear and thoughtful communicator

• Comfortable taking ownership and making decisions

• Collaborative and generous with their knowledge

• Physically capable of the demands of floral production and event installation

• Comfortable working long and sometimes irregular hours during peak wedding season

• Passionate about flowers, design, hospitality, and creating memorable experiences
