Inspiration | A Lakeside Summer Garden Wedding at Delamar Traverse City

Abundant Pale Pink Garden Party on the Shores of Lake Michigan
There’s something especially beautiful about a summer wedding on the shores of Grand Traverse Bay. The landscape does so much of the work blue water, green gardens, long summer light—and the right floral design can make the setting feel even more romantic.
For this Traverse City wedding at Delamar, BLOOM created an abundant floral design inspired by the softest shades of summer: blush, ballet pink, ivory, and warm white. Filled with lush local peonies, ranunculus, roses, hydrangea, and seasonal blooms, the flowers brought a luxury garden feeling to the waterfront celebration. With planning by Conradie Events and photography by Weber Photographers, every detail felt intentionally romantic without becoming overly formal.

Summer Pinks & Peonies
The floral palette was intentionally soft. Rather than relying on a single shade of pink, we layered blush, pale peach, ivory, and creamy white to create depth and movement.
At the center were summer peonies, one of our favorite seasonal flowers for wedding design. Their full, ruffled blooms gave the arrangements an unmistakably romantic quality, while garden roses and delicate seasonal flowers added texture and dimension.
The arrangement for the sweetheart table was designed to feel abundant and slightly undone with flowers spilling generously across the tables and cascading onto the grass paired with more traditional centerpieces on all of the round guest tables.
That sense of balance in the space with intentional design placements is an important part of the BLOOM aesthetic: lush, garden-inspired flowers that feel collected rather than overly arranged.

A Garden-Inspired Reception on the Water
The reception took place outdoors at Delamar Traverse City, with views of Grand Traverse Bay creating a naturally beautiful backdrop. Soft white draping framed the space in the clearspan tent, while the floral design brought the garden right to the table. Low, abundant arrangements allowed the flowers to stretch across the tablescape without blocking the water views. The effect was romantic and immersive—overflowing vases of pink and white peonies were the star of the floral design for this Northern Michigan wedding.

Romantic Floral Details, Naturally Layered
The beauty of this wedding was in the layering. Candlelight added warmth among the flowers, while pale wooden crossback chairs and neutral tones kept the overall palette feeling light and summery. The textured floral linen added another layer, creating a soft foundation for the abundant arrangements. Rather than designing each table to look perfectly identical, the flowers were allowed to have their own movement and personality. Some blooms gathered low across the tabletop while others cascaded dramatically over the edge.
For BLOOM, those unexpected moments are often what make a wedding feel personal.

A Traverse City Wedding with a Sense of Place
One of the reasons we love designing weddings in Traverse City is the landscape. Northern Michigan offers a particular kind of beauty in summer—the water, the gardens, the beautiful trees, the long evenings—and we always want our floral work to feel connected to it. At this Delamar Traverse City wedding, the flowers didn’t compete with the view. Instead, the soft pink and ivory palette echoed the romance of the summer landscape while adding a sense of lushness and occasion. It’s a beautiful example of what we love most about wedding flowers: creating something that feels elevated and luxurious while still belonging completely to its surroundings and season.
